Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE) is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in March of 2015. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers alike by reducing traffic caused fatalities to Zero. SAFE addresses this problem in a holistic fashion through direct education, broad awareness campaigns, partnerships, community outreach, policy and legislation, support for those impacted, and other proven strategies.

Dedicated SAFE staff and volunteers with a combined 75 years of experience in the non-profit sector have changed the face of traffic safety in the short time since establishment.

About SAFE programs:

1. SAFE Support -- the nation's first support system for victims of traffic collisions. This program is currently active and spreading across LA County and the entire Southland. With 52,000 people sent to the hospital or killed each year just in LA County, this is a VITAL program. The only thing that hinders it from reaching EVERY hospital emergency room in L.A. is the resources. By supporting Finish The Ride, you help those directly affected by the #1 killer of young adults in the US -- traffic collisions.

2. Southern California Families for Safe Streets -- in conjunction with Los Angeles Walks, SAFE has brought together a coalition of community members who have lost loved ones to preventable traffic collisions. SoCal FSS is a volunteer coalition of individuals who have personally survived a severe traffic crash or whose loved ones have been killed or seriously injured. FSS is committed to preventing these devastating crashes from affecting other families by gathering and sharing information and stories to create a groundswell of demand for safer streets. The group advocates for policy, engineering, enforcement, and education solutions that will be the most effective in improving our streets for everyone who walks, bicycles, and drives in Southern California.

3. Streets, Art, SAFE -- a cutting edge program to educate high school students on traffic safety through the arts. It is a multi-school competition in which Hollywood filmmakers mentor high school students on producing traffic safety PSAs. Students not only learn about making safer streets, including good and bad driving habits, but they also learn how to make a video, team leading skills, and how to convey an effective message. The winning team receives prizes, and their school will receive an arts education grant. In its 4th year, this program is expanding -- the more resources available, the more schools can participate.

4. Legislation and Policy -- With the help of local and state legislators, SAFE has spearheaded 5 different policy changes to increase penalties for hit and run criminals and give law enforcement additional tools to help catch those who commit hit and runs and several other advances that help enforce the causes of traffic collisions.

5. Media and Awareness Campaigns -- SAFE media and billboard campaigns have reached millions. In fact, our work has directly resulted in close to 250 million people reached regarding the importance of traffic safety and handling the causes of these collisions that occur in Southern California.
